Language and culture are two artefacts of humans that really showcase humanity’s incredible diversity. I love exploring the novelty of new languages, words, and ideas, while still recognising so much of that which we humans have in common.
The potential treasures that each culture contain are vast. Traditions can preserve the collected wisdom and knowledge of a people across centuries – hence words like “cultured” or “learned” – though this wisdom is not always obvious to everyone. Many people act in accordance with their culture, but not everyone appreciates why.
This is the case for much of the wisdom and knowledge in life. It waits for us to seize it, but it is up to us to recognise that. It is up to us to learn how to learn, because once we have learned that, we can learn anything. Then we also become free to choose what it is that we want to learn and what it is that perhaps we want to unlearn.
My vision is for people to fall in love with learning. To experience the joy of making new connections and gaining deeper understanding. To feel wiser, more wholesome, and more confident.
By combining language and communication, culture and wisdom, and the accessibility and flexibility of technology, I want to spark that love for learning in people. Whether it is learning about yourself, about health, mental health, maths, science, economics, politics, geography, astronomy, and any other subject in the world, the answers are there if you know how to look for them.
My web and mobile applications are an attempt to showcase the incredible variety of the subjects and methods of learning. With the tools of technology, programming, and AI, it has never been easier to create learning apps of any kind. The ease of using these apps and the flexibility in creating and customising them now allows people to teach themselves whatever they want in the way that they prefer. From more interactive game-like applications to more straightforward information displays, people can choose the style that suits them best.
Finally, I want people to love learning the way that I love it and I hope that my love would be contagious and spread to others. As a person with my own history and an own future trajectory, my life has its own share of unique growth, challenges, solutions, and experiences. I have learned things, be they about christianity, development, culture, or myself… and I love sharing lessons that I have learned. We do not only learn from books or applications, but also and especially by connecting with people and hearing their stories.
